Departmental Student Organizations are student-led groups officially affiliated with a University department. These organizations elect or appoint student officers and student maintain a great deal of autonomy, but the organization's affiliation with the sponsoring department may be such that the organization's advisor is a compensated role determined by the department, the organizaiton's activities are funded in part by the department, and/or staff members play a significant role in determining the organization's leadership and/or operations.
